Symbolising the company’s global reach and embodying the concept of new beginnings, Abbey International Finance’s brand logo is designed to represent the Earth in mid-summer rising above an imaginary horizon. It is designed to be evocative of the extraordinary images of earth rise taken during NASA’s Apollo moon landings.
Earth has seasons because our planet’s axis of rotation is tilted at an angle of 23.5 degrees relative to its orbit around the sun. This angle doesn’t change but our position in relation to the sun does so, as illustrated in these two diagrams, in summer the northern hemisphere receives more sunlight, in winter the southern hemisphere receives more, and in autumn and spring each hemisphere receives equal amounts.
